Children don’t need to sit perfectly still or follow every instruction straight away. Some of the photographs you’ll love most are often the ones created in between the planned portraits.

Over the years, I’ve photographed children with many different personalities, ages and needs, including children who may need a little more time to feel comfortable in new environments or in front of the camera.

With experience, patience and a calm approach, I’ll work with your child and your family to create a relaxed atmosphere where everyone feels comfortable.

Before Your Session

Everything Is Planned Around You & Your Family

Before your session, we’ll chat through your family, who will be joining you and the different portraits we’ll create together.

Every family is different, and your session will include a variety of photographs, from everyone together to individual portraits, siblings, parents with children, couples and the smaller interactions that show what makes your family yours.

For extended family sessions, we can create a collection of portraits that celebrates the different bonds and connections within your family.

Before booking your session, I recommend exploring my family photography inspiration galleries to see examples of the portraits we create and choose the experience that feels right for your you.

Before Your Session

Choosing what to wear for your session is something I’m always happy to help with. Soft textures, simple layers, neutral tones and colours that complement each other tend to photograph beautifully, creating a timeless look where your family remains the focus.

I usually recommend avoiding bold patterns, large logos and slogans, as these can become distracting and date your photographs over time.

PLEASE NOTE: The studio is a no-shoe environment, and we often photograph barefoot or in socks for a more casual finish. The most important thing is choosing something that feels like you and that you’ll enjoy looking back on.

Viewing Your Images

Relive the Moment

Around 1 – 2 weeks after your session, you’ll be invited back to the studio for your viewing appointment.

This is the part many families look forward to most, seeing their finished gallery come together for the first time.

As your gallery is revealed on the big screen, you can take your time looking through each photograph while we talk through the portrait collections available and the different ways you can choose to display your images.

Your photographs are designed to be part of your everyday life for years to come, bringing the personalities and little details you love most into your surroundings.

Your digital images will then be sent to you as a download, while any artwork you choose will be professionally created and personally delivered to you.

Set within my studio in Little Bealings, just outside of Ipswich, you’ll choose your preferred background colour before your session. Everything will be prepared ready for your arrival, allowing us to focus on creating a variety of family portraits together.

The Outdoor Family Photography Experience

Unlike a studio session, outdoor photography gives your family more freedom to move, play and enjoy the fresh air together.

Some of the most heartfelt family photographs happen when you’re simply spending time together. Whether your children are running ahead, discovering their surroundings or simply enjoying the freedom of being outdoors, I’ll gently guide things when needed while allowing your family to enjoy the experience together. The most meaningful photographs often happen in between, when everyone can simply relax and be themselves.

Outdoor sessions are available throughout the year, with each season offering something different. Spring brings fresh colours and new growth, summer offers warm golden light, autumn creates rich tones and textures, while winter brings a simple, peaceful feel with its own atmosphere.

With over 15 years of experience photographing families, I understand that every child is different. Whether they are confident and energetic or need a little more time to settle, I’ll work at their pace to create an enjoyable experience for everyone.

Choosing Outdoor Locations

I offer outdoor family photography sessions around Ipswich and across Suffolk, with a selection of carefully chosen locations, each offering something different for your photographs.

If you have a particular location in mind, please get in touch. I’m always happy to discuss ideas, with *travel fees applying for locations further from the studio.

Forest Sessions

A forest location creates a magical background throughout the year. Places such as Rendlesham Forest offer tall trees, woodland paths and open spaces where children can walk, play and enjoy the freedom of being outdoors together. The changing light through the trees creates a different feel throughout the year too, from fresh spring greens to the rich colours of autumn.

Park Sessions

For a softer outdoor feel, park sessions offer a mix of open spaces, flowers and seasonal surroundings. Locations such as Christchurch Park in Ipswich provide gardens, pathways and areas to enjoy together, creating a countryside feel close to home.

Beach Sessions

Beach sessions bring a completely different atmosphere. A location such as Felixstowe Beach offers open skies, coastal views and the freedom for children to run, play and enjoy the space around them. Whether it’s sandy toes, walking along the shoreline or cuddling together while watching the waves, beach sessions create a playful collection of photographs full of movement and personality.

Weather for Outdoor Sessions

Outdoor sessions are available throughout the year, but the British weather can be unpredictable. If the forecast isn’t suitable, we can simply rearrange your session for another date that works better.

Whether it’s the fresh colours of springtime, the warmth of summer, the rich tones of autumn or a crisp winter morning, every season brings something different. We’ll work with the conditions to create photographs that reflect your family and the way you enjoy being together.

Family Photography Investment

A chance to pause and capture your family exactly as they are today

To book your family photography session, a non-refundable Creative Fee of £99 is required at the time of booking. This secures your session date and is deducted from the portrait collection you choose after viewing your photographs.

Please note: Your Creative Fee covers the time and expertise involved in creating your session and does not include digital images or wall art. These can be chosen separately after viewing your gallery.

Georgina did the most incredible newborn photoshoot for my family after my son was recently born. She spent a great amount of time ensuring everything was perfect, making us feel comfortable on the day, ensuring we got the shots just how we wanted including both family and sibling photos as well as the individual newborn photos.

Her attention to detail is second to none and this is really seen in the quality of her work. We’ve now got the most beautiful images of such a special time with our little one. The images she took brought me to tears - I couldn’t have asked for anyone else to have captured such special moments.

Everything You Need to Know

What's the difference between a studio and outdoor family photography Session?

Absolutely. Your session can include grandparents and family pets too. For larger or extended family groups, please get in touch so we can plan the best approach for your photographs.

What should we wear?

Neutral colours, soft textures and complementary tones work wonderfully together. The most important thing is choosing something you feel comfortable and confident wearing. I’m always happy to offer advice if you need help deciding.

Can we include the whole family?

Absolutely. Your session can include grandparents and family pets too. For larger or extended family groups, please get in touch so we can plan the best approach for your photographs.

What if my children won't sit still?

That’s completely normal. Children don’t need to sit still or follow every instruction perfectly. I’ll gently guide the session while allowing space for their personalities and natural interactions to shine through.

What happens if my child is unwell?

If your child is unwell, please let me know as soon as possible. We can discuss the best option and rearrange your session if needed, so everyone is able to enjoy the experience. If you need to reschedule for any reason, please refer to my Terms and Conditions for details on cancellations and rearranged sessions.

How long does the session last?

Family Photography Sessions last one hour, giving us plenty of time to capture a varied gallery without anyone feeling rushed.

How old should my children be for family photographs?

Family photographs can be created at any age, from newborn onwards. Whether you’re welcoming a new baby, capturing siblings together or updating your family portraits as your children grow, every stage is worth remembering.

If you’re looking for more traditional newborn-style images with wraps, props and carefully styled setups, these are photographed as a newborn session rather than a family session.

How far in advance should we book?

Popular dates can fill quickly, especially during weekends and seasonal periods. I recommend getting in touch when you know you’d like to capture this stage of your family, and we can find a suitable date.

When will we see our photographs?

You’ll be invited back to the studio around 1 – 2 weeks after your session for your viewing appointment.

Can we purchase additional photographs?

Yes. Once you’ve viewed your gallery, you can choose the portrait collection that best suits your family.

Where do outdoor sessions take place?

I offer carefully chosen locations across Suffolk, including woodland, parks and beaches. If you have somewhere special in mind, I’d be delighted to discuss it.
